WORDING TO BORROW

Wedding RSVP wording examples

Clear wording gets clearer replies. Borrow these and change the details.

The short answer

Good wedding RSVP wording says who should reply, by when and how. A formal line is "Kindly reply by Saturday 1 May". For an online RSVP, add the link or QR code: "Please reply by 1 May at rsvp-events.uk/e/your-link". Then add one line for meal choices, children or plus-ones if they apply.

What should wedding RSVP wording include?

  • A reply-by date
  • How to reply: a link, a QR code or a card
  • Who the invitation is for, if that is not obvious
  • What you need to know: meal choices, dietary needs, children

How do you ask for RSVPs formally?

With names

Playful

What is the wording for an online RSVP or QR code?

Frequently asked questions

Should the RSVP card say "kindly reply" or "please RSVP"?

Either is fine. "Kindly reply by" reads as more formal; "Please RSVP by" is more everyday. Match the tone of the rest of your invitation.

Where does the RSVP wording go on a wedding invitation?

Usually at the bottom of the invitation or on a separate RSVP card. If you use an online RSVP, put the link or QR code next to the reply-by date.

Do I need a separate RSVP card if I use an online RSVP?

No. A line on the invitation with a QR code or short link is enough. Some couples still print a small details card with the link for older guests.
